Mumbai : The Mumbai-Panvel highway, a vital artery connecting the city to its suburbs, has been a hub of activity in recent years. The Mankhurd area, in particular, has seen significant development, with many residents living along the highway’s borders. In response to the growing concerns of these residents, the Public Works Minister, Shivendr Raje Bhosale, has taken a crucial step towards addressing their needs.

A meeting was held at the Vidhan Bhavan, where the Public Works Minister, Shivendra Raje Bhosale, discussed the problems faced by residents of Sahyadri Mitra Mandal Chawl Samiti, Mahatma Phule Nagar (Shindewadi), Yashwantrao Chavan National Highway, Mankhurd, Mumbai. The minister directed that the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) conduct a survey of the land and initiate rehabilitation proceedings according to government policy. This move aims to provide a dignified life to the residents who have been living in precarious conditions along the highway.

The Mumbai-Panvel highway, a special state highway under the Public Works Department, passes through the Mankhurd area. Over the years, many unauthorized slums, settlements, and constructions have come up along the highway’s borders. While these have been removed for security reasons, the residents who have been living there for years are left without a home. The SRA’s survey and rehabilitation efforts will help to address this issue and provide a suitable solution for these residents.

This meeting was attended by MLA Sana Malik Sheikh, Secretary Sanjay Dashpute, Deputy Secretary Pragya Walke, Under Secretary Sudhir Shingade, and other officials. The presence of these officials underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the residents and finding a solution to their problems.

Ministers directive to the SRA is a needful step towards rehabilitating the residents along the Mankhurd highway. The SRA will conduct a thorough survey of the land and identify suitable locations for rehabilitation. This effort will not only provide a safe and secure living environment for the residents but also help to improve the overall quality of life in the area.

Government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the residents is evident in the minister’s directive. The SRA’s efforts will be guided by government policy, ensuring that the rehabilitation process is fair, transparent, and equitable. This initiative is a testament to the government’s dedication to serving the people and providing them with a better life.
