Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has taken a significant decision to provide safe transportation to school children by approving the operation of school vans. The Transport Department will issue permits for school vans, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art safety features. This move is expected to benefit many families in the state who have been struggling to afford the high costs of school buses. Many parents have been resorting to unauthorized rickshaws to transport their children to school, which has raised concerns about their safety.

Many parents in Maharashtra have been facing difficulties in affording the increased monthly rates of school buses, leading them to opt for unauthorized rickshaws to transport their children. To address this issue, the state government has decided to introduce school vans that will provide safe and reliable transportation to students. The school vans will be equipped with advanced safety features, including GPS and CCTV cameras, emergency exit and panic button, fire alarm system and speed governor with a speed limit of 40 mph, driver ID and vehicle tracking system, and storage rack with seat structure and emergency door. These features will ensure the safety and security of students during transportation. The school vans will also have a seating capacity of 12+1 and will be BS-VI compliant, making them a safe and environmentally friendly option.

The introduction of school vans will not only provide safe transportation to students but also create employment opportunities for many. The school vans will be a new business opportunity for entrepreneurs, and the government hopes that this initiative will generate employment and economic growth.
