Mumbai: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Mumbai has successfully conducted a series of operations, seizing 4.034 kilograms of Mephedrone (MD) worth Rs 10.07 crore. The crackdown involved multiple units of the Anti-Narcotics Cell, including Ghatkopar, Bandra, and Worli units, which carried out raids in various areas of Mumbai.
The operations resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including a Nigerian citizen, who were involved in the trafficking of MD in different parts of the city. The Ghatkopar Unit seized 1.022 kilograms of MD worth Rs 2.55 crore, while the Bandra Unit seized 766 grams of MD worth Rs 1.91 crore. The Worli Unit also seized 690 grams of MD worth Rs 1.72 crore. Additionally, 1.024 kilograms of MD worth Rs 2.56 crore was seized from a Nigerian citizen in MIDC Navi Mumbai.
These operations demonstrate the Mumbai Anti-Narcotics Cell’s commitment to tackling narcotics trafficking in the city, under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Shri Deven Bharti and DCP Navnath Dhawale, who heads the Anti-Narcotics Cell. The successful crackdown is expected to disrupt the supply chain of MD in Mumbai and deal a significant blow to drug trafficking gangs operating in the city.
Citizens are urged to report any confidential information regarding drug trafficking to the Anti-Narcotics Cell or the Narcotics Control Bureau’s national helpline. The Mumbai Police’s efforts to combat narcotics trafficking have been yielding results, with significant seizures and arrests made in recent months. The campaign against narcotics trafficking is ongoing, and the police are determined to keep the city safe from the menace of drugs.
