Navi Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a teacher of a private school in Navi Mumbai allegedly made an obscene video call to a minor student studying in her school. A case has been registered against the accused teacher under the POCSO Act. The court has remanded the accused to a day’s police custody.
According to reports, the teacher used to frequently chat with the minor student on social media platform Instagram. During this conversation, it has come to light that she made an obscene video call with the student in a semi-naked state. This went on for a few days. However, the girl later informed the matter to her parents.
Realising the seriousness of the case, the parents immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint. According to the parents’ complaint, the teacher’s behaviour was likely to have an adverse effect on the minor’s mental health. Following the complaint, the police registered a case under POCSO Act and arrested the accused.
The accused was produced before a court which remanded him in one-day police custody. Police said a detailed investigation is on in the case. Has the teacher done this to any other students in the past? Is there any other crucial evidence from her mobile phone or social media accounts? This is being investigated. Police have seized the mobile phone of the accused and started investigation.
Following the incident, the police have issued a warning to parents. Parents should keep an eye on their children’s use of social media. The police have also appealed to the people to immediately contact the police in case of any such malpractice or suspicious behaviour.
