Mumbai: In a grand ceremony held at the Shivaji Mandir in Dadar, renowned actor and lecturer Sharad Ponkshe was conferred with the prestigious ‘Abhinay Kaustubh’ award. This honor marks the golden jubilee of his illustrious career in acting, which has spanned over three decades.
A Career Spanning Decades
The award, presented by Avdhoot Wagh, BJP State Spokesperson and President of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Vichar Manch, included a shawl, memento, certificate of honor, and a cash award of Rs 51,000. This recognition is a testament to Ponkshe’s remarkable contributions to the Marathi entertainment industry.
Sharad Ponkshe’s Journey
Born on October 13, 1965, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Sharad Ponkshe began his acting career in the Marathi theatre industry, performing in various plays and dramas. He gained recognition for his roles in Marathi films and television serials, showcasing his versatility and range as an actor.i
Honouring Marathi Theatre Legends
The ceremony also honored several other notable figures from the film and theatre industry, including producer Santosh Kanekar, director Rajan Tamhane, and actors Avinash Narkar and Spruha Joshi. The event, presided over by Joshi, celebrated the birth centenary of ‘Purush’ playwright Jaywant Dalvi, highlighting the significant contributions of these individuals to the world of Marathi theatre and cinema.
