Nanded : In a horrifying case of honor killing, a married woman and her lover were brutally murdered in Nanded district, Maharashtra. The incident took place in Karakla village under Umri Tehsil, sending shockwaves across the region.
According to police reports, the deceased woman, Sanjivani Surane from Borjunni village, was married to Sudhakar Kamle from Golegaon just a year ago. Before her marriage, Sanjivani was in a relationship with a man named Lakhan Bhandare. Even after her wedding, the two continued to stay in touch.
On Monday, while her in-laws were away, Sanjivani called Lakhan to her matrimonial home. However, her husband unexpectedly returned and, along with other family members, found the two in a compromising situation. Furious, the husband informed Sanjivani’s father, Maroti Surane, asking him to come immediately.
Maroti Surane, accompanied by Sanjivani’s uncle Madhav Surane and grandfather Laxman Surane, reached the house. The trio took Sanjivani and Lakhan along with them, and on their way back near Karakla village, they tied the couple’s hands and legs, brutally assaulted them, and threw them into a 40-foot-deep well.
Later in the evening, around 5 PM, Maroti Surane himself went to Umri Police Station and confessed to the crime. Police rushed to the spot and recovered Sanjivani’s body by 7 PM, while Lakhan’s body was retrieved later around 11 PM.
The police have arrested all three accused, Maroti Surane, Madhav Surane, Laxman Surane and further investigations are underway. Additional Superintendent of Police Archana Patil and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dashrath Patil also visited the site.
