Mumbai: In a decisive strike against the narcotics trade, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police Crime Branch has seized a huge consignment of 1.732 kg of mephedrone (MD) valued at ₹3.58 crore, arresting three drug peddlers in coordinated operations across Borivali, Malad, and Sion.
⭕ Borivali: Biggest Catch
The Kandivali Unit of ANC acted on a tip-off on September 3, laying a trap at National Park, Borivali (East). A 32-year-old suspect was caught red-handed while attempting to sell the banned substance.
Police recovered 1.297 kg of MD worth nearly ₹2.59 crore, making it the largest seizure in this campaign.
⭕ Malad: Peddler Nabbed in Market Raid
During a routine patrol at New Municipal Market, Sainath Road, Malad (West) on September 13, the Azad Maidan Unit arrested a 34-year-old accused in possession of 184 grams of MD valued at ₹36.8 lakh. The accused was allegedly preparing the consignment for street-level distribution.
⭕ Sion: Drugs Seized Near Bus Stop
On the same day, the Worli Unit intercepted a 28-year-old man near Rani Laxmi Chowk, B.S.T. Bus Stop, Sion (West). The team confiscated 251 grams of MD, estimated at ₹62.75 lakh, from his possession.
⭕ War on Drugs Intensifies
With these three back-to-back operations, Mumbai Police have once again underlined their zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
Senior ANC officials confirmed that all three accused have been booked under the NDPS Act, 1985, and investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and higher links in the drug network.
⭕ ANC Commitment
These operations are part of a sustained campaign to dismantle drug syndicates operating in the city. Our priority is to safeguard the youth and create a drug-free Mumbai.
