Dhule : Girls to Become Self-Reliable Through Self-Defense Skills – Collector Bhagyashree Vispute
The Dhule District Administration has launched a special ‘Virangana’ Self-Defense Training Programme aimed at empowering schoolgirls with crisis-time protection skills. Initiated under the vision of District Collector Bhagyashree Vispute, the programme is supported by the District Collectorate, Zilla Parishad, and aligned with the Government of Maharashtra’s women safety initiatives, including Nirbhaya schemes, Women Safety Cell programmes, and school-level self-defense modules.
The three-day training, inaugurated at the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Ground, has been designed to provide practical self-defense skills to girls from various schools across Dhule. Present during the inaugural session were Collector Bhagyashree Vispute, Municipal Commissioner Nitin Kapadnis, Superintendent of Police Shrikant Dhiware, and Chief Instructor Shifu Shaurya Bharadwaj.
Collector Vispute stated that the district administration has undertaken this initiative to develop awareness, confidence, strength, and preparedness among schoolgirls. She highlighted that coordinated efforts by all departments enabled the programme to begin smoothly and that the skills learned will help the girls become more self-reliant in the future.
Chief Instructor Shifuji Shaurya Bharadwaj guided the students through unique and practical techniques essential for real-life self-protection. His interactive training style boosted the confidence of students, who expressed that such sessions are extremely valuable for their safety and overall development.
The three-day Virangna training will cover practical drills, situational awareness, emergency response actions, and physical-mental preparedness techniques. The administration expects the initiative to significantly strengthen safety preparedness among girls across Dhule district.
