Navi Mumbai – Residents of Sectors 34 and 35 are currently facing a serious water shortage, leading to daily hardships and growing frustration among citizens. For the past several days, irregular and insufficient water supply has disrupted normal life, forcing many families to depend on tankers and stored water. The situation has raised concerns about basic civic management, especially during the peak summer period when demand is at its highest.
Taking note of the worsening crisis, Shiv Sena leaders have stepped in and demanded immediate action from CIDCO authorities. On April 17, a delegation met CIDCO Water Supply Officer Chetan Devre at Raigad Bhavan to address the issue in detail. During the meeting, representatives of affected housing societies presented water meter readings and 30-day supply records, clearly highlighting the severity and consistency of the shortage.
The delegation included key Shiv Sena members such as Mahanagar Sanghatak Mangesh Ranawade, Up-Mahanagar Sanghatak Sanjay Sawant, Vibhag Sanghatika Jyoti Nadkarni, and Shiv Sainik Vasant Pawar. They strongly urged CIDCO officials to take immediate corrective measures and ensure that residents receive adequate and regular water supply without further delay. The leaders emphasized that access to water is a basic right and cannot be compromised.
Responding to the concerns, CIDCO officials acknowledged that there is an approximate shortfall of 7 MLD (Million Litres per Day) in water supply across the affected sectors. Authorities informed that repair and upgradation work of pipelines and valves is currently underway to address technical issues. Officials have assured that the situation is expected to improve gradually, with normal supply likely to be restored by April 23.
However, Shiv Sena has issued a firm warning to the administration, stating that if the water supply is not normalised after the given deadline, a strong agitation will be launched against CIDCO. Residents have also expressed support for this stance, demanding immediate and sustainable solutions. With the deadline approaching, all eyes are now on CIDCO’s response and execution of the promised improvements.
