🟡 Sudden Shift After Days of Dry Weather
Delhi–NCR is currently witnessing intense rainfall activity, bringing major disruption across the region. Notably, this downpour comes after a prolonged dry spell of nearly 5–7 days, during which residents experienced rising temperatures, humidity, and uncomfortable weather conditions. The sudden transition from dry heat to heavy rainfall has significantly impacted daily life.
🟡 IMD Issues Red Alert Across Key Regions
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for several parts of Delhi–NCR, warning of very heavy rainfall and potential emergency situations. Earlier, Orange and Yellow alerts were in place, but with increasing intensity, authorities have escalated the warning level. The IMD has urged residents to remain cautious as further rainfall is expected in the coming hours.
🟡 Waterlogging and Flood-Like Situation in NCR
Areas including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad have reported severe waterlogging. Several roads are submerged, and low-lying areas are facing flood-like conditions. In multiple locations, water has entered residential homes and commercial establishments, creating distress for local residents. The drainage system has been overwhelmed due to the sudden surge in rainwater.
🟡 Traffic Disruptions and Commuter Challenges
The rainfall has severely affected traffic movement across Delhi–NCR. Major roads are witnessing long traffic jams due to water accumulation and stalled vehicles. During peak office hours, commuters are facing significant delays, with many stranded for hours. Public transport services have also been impacted, adding to the inconvenience.
🟡 Temperature Drop and Weather Conditions
Continuous rainfall has led to a noticeable drop in temperature, bringing it down to around 25–26°C. While this has provided some relief from the earlier heat, the overall weather remains cloudy, humid, and unstable. Intermittent heavy showers are likely to continue.

According to IMD forecasts, heavy rainfall activity is expected to persist over the next 24 to 48 hours. There remains a risk of further waterlogging, traffic congestion, and localized flooding in vulnerable areas. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

Residents are advised to avoid waterlogged roads and low-lying underpasses. It is recommended to step out only if necessary and follow all traffic and local administration advisories. Staying alert and prepared is crucial as weather conditions remain unpredictable.
