New Delhi | Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the historic Red Fort today on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day. The address will come after the Prime Minister unfurls the national flag at the Red Fort.

This will be PM Modi’s 13th consecutive Independence Day address from the Red Fort, making the occasion significant as India moves towards its long-term development vision.

🟡 Youth Power at the Centre of the Independence Day Theme

This year’s Independence Day celebrations are being held under the theme “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat@2047.”

The focus is expected to remain on India’s youth, employment opportunities, innovation, skills, entrepreneurship and their role in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.

🟡 Viksit Bharat@2047

The Prime Minister is expected to highlight India’s development journey and outline priorities for the years ahead. Economic growth, self-reliance, manufacturing, technology, infrastructure and opportunities for young Indians are likely to remain important areas of focus.

However, any fresh policy announcement or new target will be confirmed only after the Prime Minister makes it during his address.

🟡 150 Years of Vande Mataram

This year also marks 150 years of Vande Mataram. The national song has been given special prominence during the Independence Day celebrations, adding a historic and cultural dimension to the event.

The celebrations are also expected to underline the connection between India’s freedom struggle, national unity and the country’s future aspirations.

🟡 National Security and India’s Global Role

National security could also feature prominently in the Prime Minister’s address amid the changing geopolitical environment. Defence preparedness, strategic strength and India’s growing role on the global stage are among the issues being closely watched.

🟡 What the Nation Will Watch

The biggest attention will be on whether PM Modi announces any new measures or gives fresh commitments on:

Jobs and youth

Farmers and rural development

Women-led development

Manufacturing and self-reliance

Artificial intelligence and technology

Defence and national security

Economic growth

Energy and infrastructure

Welfare schemes

Viksit Bharat@2047

The Bigger Message

Independence Day speeches from the Red Fort often provide a broad political and policy direction for the year ahead. Today’s address is therefore expected to be closely watched not only for its patriotic message but also for any major policy signals and announcements.
