Banjara Community Demands ST Reservation

Nanded, Maharashtra: The reservation issue in Maharashtra continues to intensify. After the Maratha agitation, the OBC community has also taken a strong stance. Now, in Nanded, the Banjara community has come forward with a demand to be included under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.

Massive March in Ardhapur Tehsil

“Protesters display banners urging the government to implement the Hyderabad Gazette for the Banjara community.

Thousands of Banjaras held a massive protest march at the Ardhapur Tehsil office today. Men and women participated in large numbers, raising slogans and carrying banners demanding immediate implementation of the Hyderabad Gazette for their community.

Hyderabad Gazette Demand

“Thousands of Banjaras take out a massive march in Nanded’s Ardhapur demanding ST reservation.”

Protesters argued that during the Nizam’s era, the Banjara community was classified under Scheduled Tribes, and hence they must be restored to that category. They emphasized that if the Gazette was applicable for Marathas, it should also be applied to them.

Youth Left Without Opportunities

The community highlighted that despite pursuing higher education, Banjara youth remain unemployed and are forced into sugarcane cutting and manual labor. They believe ST reservation will ensure fair opportunities in education and jobs.

Women Join in Large Numbers

“Banjara women in traditional attire raise their voices during the agitation in Nanded.”

Women of the Banjara community, dressed in traditional attire, participated in the protest and issued a warning: if the government does not respond, they will take the agitation to the streets in a stronger and more aggressive manner.
