Corruption Allegations Spark Political Row
BJP leader and Minister Ashish Shelar has leveled serious allegations against Uddhav Thackeray’s party, accusing them of indulging in massive corruption in the Deonar dumping ground scam. Shelar alleged that the party had bagged a ₹4,500 crore contract for waste management in 2008 and indulged in large-scale commission-based corruption.
Shelar Questions Aditya Thackeray’s Credibility
Shelar questioned Aditya Thackeray’s credibility in raising concerns about the current tender worth ₹2,368 crore, given his party’s track record on the issue. He emphasized that the Dharavi redevelopment project, for which the Deonar land is intended, will benefit Mumbai and its residents, and that not a single inch of land will be given to Adani.
Shiv Sena’s Hypocrisy Highlighted
Shelar asked why Aditya Thackeray and his party are opposing the current tender when they themselves had sanctioned a contract worth ₹4,500 crore for the same project. The BJP had opposed the ₹4,500 crore contract at the time, citing several flaws and potential for corruption, and now questions the Shiv Sena’s motives in opposing the current tender.

Shelar’s accusations have sparked a controversy, with the Shiv Sena likely to respond strongly. The allegations highlight the ongoing political tensions between the BJP and the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, with both parties trading charges and counter-charges over the Deonar dumping ground scam.
