Dhule: A big amount of cash, amounting to crores of rupees, was seized from a government guest house in Dhule, Maharashtra, sparking a controversy over allegations of corruption and bribery. A team of 11 MLAs, led by Arjun Khotkar, had visited Dhule to inspect development projects.
Allegations surfaced that Khotkar’s personal assistant, Kishore Patil, had booked a room at the Gulmohar Rest House and was collecting money from various government offices. Former MLA Anil Gote accused Patil of collecting crores of rupees in bribes, and his supporters staged a protest outside the guest house.
After a prolonged standoff, the district administration and police broke open the locked room and found Rs 1.84 crore in cash. The police are investigating the source of the funds and those involved in the alleged bribery.
The MLAs involved in the committee include Arjun Khotkar, Kashiram Pawara, Dilip Borse, Manda Mhatre, Manisha Chaudhari, Kishore Patil, Kiran Samant, Shekhar Nikam, Kailas Patil, Sadashiv Khot, and Rajesh Rathod.
The incident has sparked widespread debate, raising questions about corruption in government offices. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to bring those involved to justice.
