Washim : In a shocking incident in Washim district, Maharashtra, a family returning from Hajj pilgrimage found their house broken into and looted early this morning. The burglary took place in the Hasmani locality of Karanja town around 5 AM.
According to reports, the family of 15 members had just arrived after completing their Hajj journey when they discovered the main door lock broken and the house in disarray. A large steel cupboard kept beside the bed was forcibly opened, and ₹70,000 in cash was stolen.
Though a CCTV camera was installed near the main entrance, the burglars outsmarted the system by climbing over the roof with the help of an iron structure placed nearby. They then entered the house through the gallery door after breaking it open.
The head of the Hasmani family has lodged a formal complaint at the local police station.
This incident comes just two days after an attempted armed robbery at a teacher couple’s residence in Memon Colony, which was foiled due to the alertness of a neighboring woman. Following that incident, residents had already demanded increased police patrolling in the area. The latest burglary has now heightened fear and concern among the citizens of Karanja.
