⭕ Widespread Destruction Across District

Nanded, Maharashtra : Continuous heavy rains have wreaked havoc across several tehsils of Nanded district, leaving a trail of destruction on agriculture, roads, and homes. Standing crops of cotton, soybean, and paddy have been badly damaged, while fertile land has eroded under floodwaters. Several rural roads and bridges have collapsed, cutting off connectivity to villages. Farmers and residents are facing severe hardships as houses have also been destroyed, adding to the crisis.
⭕ MLA Chikhlikar’s Urgent Appeal

NCP MLA Pratap Patil Chikhlikar visited the rain-hit areas, held a meeting with the District Collector, and strongly demanded that the Maharashtra government immediately sanction a special financial package for Nanded district. He stressed that distressed farmers, already struggling with debt, will not be able to recover without direct state support. According to him, urgent assistance is required not just for farmers but also for rebuilding damaged homes, repairing rural infrastructure, and restoring normal life.
⭕ Government Response and Relief Measures
The state government, meanwhile, has directed district authorities to conduct a detailed panchnama of losses in all affected villages. Relief and Rehabilitation officials have confirmed that compensation will be provided as per State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) guidelines. Farmers who have suffered crop losses are expected to receive compensation on a per-hectare basis once surveys are completed. Houses damaged in the rains are likely to be covered under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, while the Public Works Department has been instructed to prepare reports for the immediate repair of roads and bridges.
⭕ Possible Special Package Under Consideration

In addition, officials indicated that the government is considering a special relief package estimated between ₹500 crore and ₹1000 crore for Nanded. The package is expected to combine crop insurance payouts with direct financial aid to affected families. Temporary shelters for displaced people and faster Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments to beneficiaries are also under review. The Relief and Rehabilitation Department is preparing to release initial assistance in the coming days, with a larger package to follow after full assessment.
⭕ Ground Reality and Farmer Concerns
Local residents fear long-term economic hardship if immediate relief is delayed. Many farmers have already expressed concern that this season’s losses are irreparable, which may force migration in search of livelihood. While NGOs have started distributing essentials in affected areas, large-scale government intervention remains crucial. MLA Chikhlikar emphasized that this is not only a district-level problem but a human crisis, and urged the state to stand firmly behind the people of Nanded during this difficult time.
