Dubai: In another electrifying chapter of the India–Pakistan cricket rivalry, Team India delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Pakistan by six wickets in the Asia Cup Super Four clash at Dubai International Stadium. The Men in Blue combined aggressive batting with disciplined bowling, ensuring that Pakistan’s fighting effort with the bat could not translate into victory.

⭕ Pakistan’s Steady Start, but Short of Firepower

Pakistan, opting to bat first, posted a total of 171/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Sahibzada Farhan anchored the innings with a determined knock of 58 runs, showing resilience against India’s pace attack. Support came late in the innings from Salman Ali Agha and Faheem Ashraf, whose quick runs lifted Pakistan past the 170 mark. However, their middle overs lacked momentum as Indian bowlers applied pressure. Shivam Dube’s clever variations and Kuldeep Yadav’s sharp spin prevented Pakistan from breaking free, leaving the score slightly under par on a batting-friendly Dubai surface.

⭕ Indian Openers Set the Stage

Chasing 172, India’s young openers came out with fearless intent. Abhishek Sharma, continuing his rise as one of India’s brightest batting stars, produced a breathtaking 74 off 39 deliveries, hammering boundaries and clearing the ropes with ease. At the other end, Shubman Gill played a fluent hand, striking 47 runs off 28 balls, ensuring India raced past the powerplay with a dominant run rate. Their partnership laid the perfect foundation and left Pakistan searching for breakthroughs as the scoreboard pressure mounted heavily on them.

⭕ Tilak Varma Finishes in Style

Although Pakistan managed to strike back with a couple of middle-order wickets, the chase remained firmly in India’s control. Calm and composed, Tilak Varma ensured there were no late jitters, crafting an unbeaten 30 runs off 19 balls. His ability to rotate strike and pick boundaries at the right moment kept the momentum flowing. India eventually sealed the chase at 174/4 in 18.5 overs, registering the win with seven deliveries to spare. The clinical finish highlighted India’s growing depth in batting, where youngsters are confidently stepping up on the big stage.

⭕ Drama Beyond the Field

The match also witnessed a talking point beyond the cricketing action. After the final ball, both teams avoided the customary handshake, raising eyebrows among spectators and commentators. While India celebrated another morale-boosting victory, Pakistan walked away disappointed after another failed attempt to overcome their arch-rivals in a major tournament. With this win, India not only gained bragging rights but also strengthened their position in the Super Four stage, making their march towards the Asia Cup final look increasingly promising.
