🟡 The Festive Season Kicks Off with Unprecedented Market Buzz
Mumbai: With the onset of Navratri, India has officially entered the grand festive season that leads up to Diwali. Markets across the nation are buzzing with energy as traders anticipate a record-breaking sale of ₹4.75 lakh crore, marking the highest ever in India’s retail history. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has revealed that Indian-made goods are dominating shelves, reaffirming that Swadeshi is the new business identity this season.
🟡 Diwali Sales Touch New Heights Year After Year
In the last four years, Diwali sales have grown exponentially — from ₹1.25 lakh crore in 2021, ₹2.50 lakh crore in 2022, ₹3.75 lakh crore in 2023, to ₹4.25 lakh crore in 2024. This year’s projection of ₹4.75 lakh crore highlights not just consumer enthusiasm, but also a deep cultural and economic shift toward Indian products.
In Delhi alone, trade associations expect festival sales worth ₹75,000 crore, indicating robust market sentiment nationwide.
🟡 CAIT and Traders Credit PM Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ Vision
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, CAIT Secretary General and MP from Chandni Chowk, Shri Praveen Khandelwal, said that a survey conducted across 35 cities attributes this year’s festive boom to two primary factors:
1️⃣ Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Vocal for Local – Local for Global,” which has deeply resonated with consumers.
2️⃣ Recent GST rate cuts, which have boosted sales across multiple sectors, benefiting both traders and buyers.
An exhibition with over 30 stalls showcased Swadeshi products made by women entrepreneurs, demonstrating the superior quality and competitive pricing of Indian goods.
🟡 Swadeshi Spirit Defines This Year’s Diwali
“This Diwali will be celebrated as Apni Diwali – Bharatiya Diwali under CAIT’s national campaign Bhartiya Saaman – Hamara Swabhiman,” said Shri Khandelwal. The campaign symbolizes national pride and economic self-reliance, uniting traders and consumers under the Swadeshi banner.
The festive season stretches from Navratri through Tulsi Vivah (Nov 2), including Ahoi Ashtami, Dhanteras, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath Puja. Across the country, traders are promoting Indian goods in every celebration.
🟡 Chinese Goods Out, Swadeshi Rules the Market
Post the Galwan Valley incident in 2020, the movement to boycott Chinese products has gained remarkable strength. Importers have stopped sourcing Diwali-related goods from China, ensuring Indian artisans and manufacturers dominate the market.
🟡 Swadeshi Products Lighting Up Every Category
From clay lamps, idols, handicrafts, and puja items to electronics, automobiles, garments, furniture, and FMCG products, Indian-made goods are taking center stage. Consumers are proudly supporting domestic industries, transforming Diwali shopping into an act of national empowerment.
🟡 Festival of Lights, Economy, and National Pride
Shri Khandelwal summed it up perfectly:
“Diwali is not just a festival of lights but also a festival of economic growth. Every rupee spent on Indian goods strengthens our economy, creates employment, and fulfills the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
With record sales, vibrant markets, and Swadeshi enthusiasm, this Diwali is set to make history — a festival where faith meets finance, and tradition meets transformation.
