Mumbai: The Vice-President of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Committee Member of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mr. Sureshbhai Thakkar, said that the Maharashtra Government has announced a relief package of ₹1,339 crore for farmers. This package will support those whose crops were damaged due to heavy rainfall between June and August 2025. The relief is based on official assessments of losses reported during this period, though evaluation of crop damage in Marathwada is still in progress.

Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makrand Jadhav-Patil confirmed that the aid will benefit 19.22 lakh farmers across 15.45 lakh hectares of farmland. A formal government resolution has already been issued to release this package. According to officials, the distribution of relief will be carried out in a time-bound manner to ensure that maximum farmers receive assistance before the next cultivation cycle begins.

Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, Jadhav-Patil said, “This monsoon brought unprecedented rainfall and flood-like conditions which placed farmers in deep distress. The immediate aid will reduce their burden and help them recover their livelihood. The government is committed to standing firmly with the farming community during this crisis.” The announcement has been welcomed across various farmer groups and cooperative networks.

Expressing appreciation, Sureshbhai Thakkar added that this relief initiative shows the government’s commitment towards the agricultural sector. He noted that the package will provide both financial support and moral strength to farmers. “This is indeed a good step by the Maharashtra Government and will go a long way in helping farmers restart their agricultural activities with confidence,” he said.
