Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has presented supplementary demands amounting to ₹57,509.71 crore to support various infrastructure projects and social welfare schemes. Deputy Chief Minister and State Finance & Planning Minister Ajit Pawar submitted these demands on the first day of the Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature. The funds will be utilized for developing roads, metro rail, irrigation schemes, and planning the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, among other initiatives.
Out of the total supplementary demands, ₹19,183.85 crore are non-discretionary expenditures, ₹34,661.34 crore are for program-based funding, and ₹3,664.52 crore pertain to centrally sponsored schemes. The actual net financial impact will be ₹40,644.69 crore. Key allocations include ₹11,042.76 crore for grants recommended by the 15th Finance Commission, ₹3,228.38 crore for metro projects and stamp duty surcharge refunds, and ₹2,182.69 crore for margin money loans to cooperative sugar factories.
The funds will also support public health initiatives, the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Health Scheme, the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Grant Scheme, scholarships for backward class students, and overall upliftment of economically and socially weaker sections. The allocations aim to promote development and welfare in the state, addressing various needs and priorities of the government.
