The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025, setting the political stage on fire. Phase 1 voting will take place on November 6 for 121 constituencies, followed by Phase 2 on November 11 for 122 seats, with results on November 14. A total of 7.42 crore voters, including 14 lakh first-time voters, are expected to decide Bihar’s future in what promises to be a fiercely contested election.
The Mahagathbandhan alliance has declared Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate, projecting him as the youth face of change, while Mukesh Sahani of the VIP party has been announced as the Deputy CM face. Tejashwi attacked the NDA for its “lack of clarity” and said, “We’ve never been confused about leadership. Bihar needs jobs, not jumlas.” The alliance of RJD, Congress, and Left parties aims to revive its 2020 momentum.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted the NDA campaign today with mega rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai, calling the election a “battle for Bihar’s prosperity.” Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed crowds in Saran and met intellectuals in Patna, while BJP and JD(U) cadres launched door-to-door outreach across the state. The NDA has finalized its seat-sharing formula — BJP 101, JD(U) 101, LJP(R) 29, HAM 6, RLM 6.
The election narrative is dominated by unemployment, migration, and social justice. All major parties are promising large-scale job creation and a caste census. The BJP has coined the slogan “Vikaas vs Vinaash”, contrasting its development model with what it calls the opposition’s “politics of confusion.” Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan emphasizes education, youth empowerment, and public welfare.
Apart from the two big blocs, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party is emerging as a potential disruptor, appealing to disillusioned voters with its reformist campaign. Kishor has dismissed the traditional parties’ promises as “empty rhetoric,” vowing to offer a new political alternative for Bihar. Political observers say his campaign could impact both NDA and RJD vote banks in select regions.
As Bihar heads into its most high-stakes election in recent years, the contest is shaping into a triangular fight — Tejashwi Yadav’s youth pitch vs Modi’s development plank vs Kishor’s clean politics narrative. With only weeks left for polling, the battle lines are drawn, and Bihar’s voters are ready to decide who will script the next chapter of the state’s political destiny.
