Mumbai: Accordingly Severe weather conditions and red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all schools in Mumbai, effective tomorrow, August 19, 2025. This decision applies to both morning and afternoon sessions, prioritizing the safety and well-being of students.
The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Mumbai and its suburbs, leading to a red alert being issued for several areas, including Borivali, Thane, Kalyan, Mulund, Powai, Santa Cruz, Chembur, Worli, Navi Mumbai, and Colaba. The BMC has taken this precautionary measure to ensure that students are not put in harm’s way due to the adverse weather conditions.
The BMC has advised citizens to stay indoors and avoid stepping out unless absolutely necessary. Residents are also urged to follow guidelines issued by local authorities and contact emergency services (100/112/103) in case of emergencies.
