Muzaffarpur Bihar: A Muzaffarpur court today heard a complaint filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav over alleged derogatory remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother during a recent political rally in Darbhanga. The case has drawn widespread attention across Bihar’s political landscape, with the court set to decide on the next course of action, including whether to summon the opposition leaders.

The controversy stems from the “Voter Adhikar Yatra” rally, where offensive language was allegedly used from the dais after senior Congress and RJD leaders had left the stage. Police later identified and arrested a 20-year-old pickup van driver, Mohammad Rizvi alias Raja, for using the abusive words. He was presented before the court and is now in judicial custody. Authorities clarified that the remarks came from Rizvi, not directly from the opposition leaders, but the complaint argues that the rally organizers should also be held accountable.

The issue has triggered strong political reactions. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken to the streets, with state leaders organizing a candlelight march in Patna led by Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. They condemned the remarks and demanded responsibility from Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav.

Meanwhile, Haryana minister Anil Vij also weighed in, stating that India “will not tolerate insult to Prime Minister Modi’s mother.” He called on the Congress and RJD leaders to issue a public apology, insisting that such language is unacceptable in political discourse.

The incident comes amid rising tensions between ruling and opposition parties in Bihar, with the case adding fresh fuel to the already polarized political environment. Legal experts note that if the Muzaffarpur court finds prima facie evidence against the leaders, it may issue summons in the next hearing.
