Nanded, Maharashtra: With the onset of Sharadiya Navratri, a massive influx of devotees has gathered at the sacred Renuka Devi Temple in Mahurgarh, one of Maharashtra’s revered “three and a half Shakti Peethas.” From early morning, rituals began with Ghatasthapana as thousands of devotees from across Maharashtra and other states reached the hilltop shrine to seek blessings.

⭕ Nine Days of Religious and Cultural Celebrations

The Navratri festival at Mahurgarh is marked by daily rituals including the abhishek, offering of garments and ornaments to the goddess, Maha Aarti, and Kumari Poojan. Traditional offerings of dahi-bhaat (curd rice) and puran poli are made every day. On Lalita Panchami, the goddess is adorned with new attire and jewelry, followed by grand worship and distribution of prasadam.

⭕ Spiritual Significance of Mahurgarh

Mahurgarh is regarded as the original awakened seat (Jagrit Peeth) of Goddess Renuka, worshipped as the family deity by many Maharashtrian households. The fort also houses temples of Lord Dattatreya and Lord Parashuram. Mythological legends state that Lord Dattatreya was born here, and it was on this hill that Parashuram had a vision of his mother Renuka after her sacrifice. This makes Mahurgarh one of the most spiritually powerful pilgrimage sites in the region.

⭕ Special Arrangements for Pilgrims

To manage the heavy rush of devotees, the temple authorities and local administration have made elaborate arrangements. Maharashtra State Transport buses are operating up to the foothills of Mahurgarh, while police personnel have been deployed in large numbers to ensure safety and order during the nine-day festival.
