Nanded: A disturbing incident has surfaced from Ardhapur tehsil in Nanded district, where worms were found in the food served at a government hostel for backward-class students. Shocked by the discovery, students accused the hostel management of serving unhygienic and substandard meals on a daily basis. They also complained about the rude behavior of hostel staff and lodged a formal complaint with the local tehsildar.
Following the uproar, Social Welfare Department Inspector Sanjay Kadam visited the hostel on September 9, 2025, to investigate the matter. In his written report, Kadam admitted that the food quality was not up to the required standard. He warned that such negligence could severely harm the students’ health and intellectual development. Kadam further stated that if the hostel fails to maintain hygiene and provide nutritious meals as per government guidelines, the food contract would be terminated immediately, and administrative action would be taken against the contractor.
This incident has sparked concern across the district, particularly as Ardhapur falls within the constituency of former Chief Minister and current MP Ashok Chavan. With growing pressure from students and parents, all eyes are now on senior Social Welfare Department officials to see whether strict and transparent action will be taken against those responsible.
