HEAT WAVE ALERT: Mumbai, Thane, Palghar to Sizzle with Temperatures Rising by 4°C

Mumbai: A severe heat wave alert has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar districts, and the Konkan belt from March 9 to 11. This is the second heat wave to hit the state before Holi, with temperatures already soaring across the state. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the heat wave. The IMD has warned that the heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in the region for the next three days, and citizens should be prepared for extremely hot weather. The heat wave alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and the Konkan belt, which includes the districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.
Temperature Expected to Rise by 2-4 Degrees Celsius
The maximum temperature in the state is likely to increase by two to four degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours. Meteorologists have also reported an increase in the minimum temperature in Pune. The IMD has appealed to citizens to follow essential principles to stay safe during the heat wave, such as avoiding outdoor activities during the afternoon, covering their heads, drinking plenty of water, and wearing cotton clothes. Citizens are also advised to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day and avoid strenuous activities. The IMD has also warned that the heat wave conditions can lead to health problems, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and people with pre-existing medical conditions.
Heat Wave Warning Issued for Multiple Districts
A yellow heat wave alert has been issued for Mumbai suburbs, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Thane districts. The IMD has warned of hot and humid weather conditions in these areas. Citizens are advised to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day and take necessary precautions to stay safe. The IMD has also advised citizens to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and to avoid traveling during the hottest part of the day. The heat wave warning has been issued for a period of three days, and citizens are advised to be prepared for extremely hot weather during this period.
