Judiciary Grinds to a Halt: Lawyers Strike Over Justice Varma’s Transfer

By: PR Network

New Delhi: The High Court lawyers’ strike has brought the judiciary to a grinding halt, with lawyers protesting the transfer of Justice Yashwant Varma to the Allahabad High Court. The strike, which began on March 25, 2025, is a response to the sudden transfer of Justice Varma, who was facing an inquiry over alleged cash discovery from his official residence.

Lawyers Demand Justice

The lawyers claim that the transfer is unjust and smacks of bias, and are demanding that Justice Varma be reinstated to his original position. The strike has caused chaos in the court, with litigants and petitioners left in the lurch. The absence of lawyers has resulted in the adjournment of several crucial cases, causing frustration and disappointment among those seeking justice.

A Matter of Principle

The lawyers remain resolute in their demand, stating that the transfer of Justice Varma is a matter of principle and a blow to the integrity of the judiciary. They claim that the transfer undermines the independence of the courts and raises questions about the ability of the judiciary to function independently and impartially.

Fate of Judiciary Hangs in Balance

As the strike continues, the fate of the judiciary hangs in the balance. Will the lawyers succeed in their demands, or will the government stand firm? Only time will tell.
