Nashik’s Kathe Gali Area Sees Violent Clashes Between Police and Mob

By: Arvind Jadhav

Nashik: A tense situation unfolded in Nashik’s Kathe Gali area on Tuesday night when a mob pelted stones at police personnel and vehicles, injuring 3-4 officers and damaging 5 vehicles. The incident occurred after electricity was cut off, plunging the area into darkness, which the mob exploited to carry out the attack.

The violence is reportedly linked to a rumor about a religious place, specifically an unauthorized construction that sparked tensions among locals. Authorities had issued notices on April 1 to remove the structure, but the construction remained, fueling discontent.

To maintain order, approximately 500 police personnel were deployed to the area. Authorities changed traffic routes to prevent further issues and continued patrolling throughout the night. Officials stated that unauthorized religious places will be removed within the next two days, following a court order.

The incident highlights the importance of maintaining public order and tranquility. According to the Indian Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure, unlawful assemblies can be dispersed using force, and members participating in such assemblies can face imprisonment and fines. The Nashik Police are working to maintain peace and order in the area, while administrative officials are taking steps to address the issue of unauthorized constructions.

Recent violent clashes in Nashik’s Kathe Galli area have led to significant developments. On Tuesday night, around 400-500 people pelted stones at police personnel and vehicles, injuring 3-4 officers and damaging 5 vehicles. Authorities responded by changing traffic routes and patrolling throughout the night to maintain order. Following a court order, officials stated that unauthorized religious places will be removed within the next two days. Currently, police and administrative personnel remain in the area, monitoring the situation to maintain peace.
