BJP Predicted to Win, AAP Confident of Fourth Term
DELHI : Several surveys have predicted a BJP victory in Delhi, sparking speculation about a potential change in power. The results of the Delhi assembly elections will be announced on February 8. Delhi has 70 assembly seats, and the BJP is expected to secure around 40 to 50 seats.
The Aam Aadmi Party, which has been in power in Delhi for three consecutive years, is seen lagging behind. Political analysts attribute AAP’s decline to allegations of Yamuna River pollution, Modi’s middle-class policies, vote division between Congress and AAP, and the waning influence of Arvind Kejriwal’s brand. In the 2020 Delhi assembly elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats.
The BJP got only eight seats, while Congress didn’t secure a single seat. The issue of money distribution was a hot topic during Wednesday’s polling process, with AAP and BJP accusing each other of distributing money. With a few exceptions, 60.10% voting was recorded, increasing anxiety among 699 candidates.
The BJP views the surveys as promising, indicating a mindset shift among Delhi voters. AAP has rejected exit poll predictions, citing past experiences where they formed governments despite unfavorable surveys. AAP expresses confidence in Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership and predicts a fourth consecutive government formation.
Congress strongly objects to the survey’s seat allocation, anticipating a surprise outcome on Friday. The party claims a miracle will happen in the actual election results. The people of Delhi will have to wait until February 8 to know the fate of their government.
