IMD Issues Orange to Red Alerts
Mumbai: Mumbai experienced a heavy downpour on Monday, with significant rainfall recorded in various areas of the city. According to BMC data, the western suburbs received the highest rainfall, with Supari Tank and Nariyal vadi Santacruz recording 25 mm, followed by Khar Danda Pali Hill with 24 mm.
Other areas that received significant rainfall include:
HE Ward Office: 18 mm
HW Ward Office: 16 mm
Vile Parle Fire Station: 15 mm
Andheri Fire Station: 14 mm
Chakal Municipal School: 14 mm
Malvani Fire Station: 12 mm
Versova Pumping Station: 11 mm
In the eastern suburbs, Collector Colony in Chembur recorded 13 mm of rainfall, while the Chembur Fire Station and MW Ward Office received 9 mm. Central Mumbai areas like Britania SWD and Sewri, Koliwada logged 12 mm of rainfall, followed by 11 mm at Gokhale Road Municipal School.
IMD Alerts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange to red alerts for the city and its suburban areas, warning residents of ongoing weather risks. The IMD stated that “light to moderate spell of rainfall is likely to continue over Mumbai and suburban areas during the next 3-4 hours.
Additionally, the IMD warned of “moderate to heavy spells of rainfall with moderate thunderstorms with squally winds 50-60 kmph” in Mumbai and suburban areas during the next 3 hours, issuing orange to red color warnings.
