Mumbai: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Pranali Girish Raut has raised concerns over attempts to shut down a prominent BMC-run school in Mahim, Mumbai. Despite assurances from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and officials, Raut claims that behind-the-scenes efforts to close the school are still underway. The school, which educates thousands of students from the local community, is considered a vital institution in the area.
Raut’s concerns come after the Chief Minister’s public commitment to not closing any schools in Maharashtra, which has added to the uncertainty surrounding the school’s future. “We are extremely disappointed that even after being assured by the Chief Minister that no school in Maharashtra would be closed, the future of this school remains uncertain,” she said.
The potential closure of the school has sparked widespread concern among parents and citizens, who have submitted applications to the Municipal Commissioner and other authorities to protect the school. Raut has appealed to parents and residents to join hands in opposing the move, emphasizing the school’s importance to the community’s future.
“This institution is not just a building — it’s a pillar of our locality’s future. We must act now to save it,” Raut urged, highlighting the school’s significance in providing quality education to thousands of students. The school’s closure would not only affect the students but also the local community, which relies heavily on the institution for its educational needs.
The development has sparked a sense of urgency among the local community, with many calling for immediate action to protect the school. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to the concerns raised by Raut and the local community.
