Thane: A storm of allegations has hit the Thane Municipal Transport Department after serious financial irregularities came to light, leaving nearly 600 employees struggling without salaries, allowances, and PF settlements. The controversy centers around the work order issued to G.A. Digital Web World Pvt. Ltd. by the transport department. Sources allege that the approval was given in a hush-hush manner by Transport Manager Bhalchandra Behere, raising questions over possible collusion between municipal officials and the private contractor.
With salaries and benefits pending for months, anger is brewing among transport workers. Several employee unions are already preparing for a major agitation, demanding immediate payment of dues and action against those responsible. Meanwhile, the blame game between the transport department and the private company has intensified. While municipal officers are holding the contractor accountable, the company in turn has accused the administration itself of financial mismanagement, leaving workers caught in the middle of this standoff.
The protesting employees have demanded the suspension of the officials involved in the alleged irregularities and the permanent blacklisting of G.A. Digital Web World Pvt. Ltd. for repeated violations. They have also insisted on immediate release of all pending salaries, allowances, and PF amounts, along with criminal proceedings under the Indian Penal Code and wage laws against company owner Garima Arora and key officials Dnyaneshwar Indulkar and Mahesh Paste.
This entire controversy was brought to light by Vivek Jagatap, General Secretary of BJP’s Maharashtra Film and Labour Front, who has warned that if the government fails to act swiftly, statewide protests will follow. With the Ganeshotsav festivities just around the corner, the issue threatens to spiral into a law-and-order crisis. Jagatap has already written to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, attaching a petition signed by hundreds of workers, demanding an immediate investigation and strict action. He has warned that if the guilty are not punished, the responsibility for any escalation will rest squarely on the Thane Municipal Corporation and the state government.
