Nanded: Tension has spread across Maharashtra following the alleged insult of the late Meenatai Thackeray’s statue in Mumbai. The incident has triggered strong reactions in Nanded, where members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) staged a protest and condemned the act.
As a mark of respect and protest, activists performed a milk abhishek (ritual offering of milk) on Meenatai Thackeray’s statue in the city. The agitation was organized in front of Mahatma Phule’s statue, where a large number of MVA leaders and supporters gathered.
Senior leaders, including Congress MP Ravindra Chavan, were present during the protest. Speaking to the media, MVA leaders demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the insult, labeling them as “social miscreants.”
The MVA also issued a stern warning that if swift action is not taken, Nanded district will observe a complete bandh (shutdown) called by Shiv Sainiks of the Thackeray faction.
The incident has further escalated political tensions, with calls for justice resonating across the state.
