At a meeting held today in Dadar, the Foundation’s Chairman and former Deputy Mayor of Mumbai, Mr. BabuBhai Bhavanji, said:”When an individual violates the rules of justice and engages in wrongful conduct for selfish gain, that person is called corrupt. Sadly, in India. once known as the ‘Golden Bird’. corruption has now infiltrated every sector.”
He highlighted that India currently ranks 94th in the world in terms of corruption. Forms of corruption include bribery, black-marketing, price manipulation, paid work delays, and selling cheap goods at high prices. He warned that corruption is spreading like a disease, and if not curbed in time, it could engulf the entire nation.
Foundation President Arun Sabnis emphasized that corruption is like an infectious disease. He said, “Today, even those caught taking bribes manage to escape by bribing their way out. Unless strict punishment is enforced, this menace will continue to eat away at the nation like termites.”
On this occasion, Advocate Rajesh Dedhia added:”Corruption is the biggest attack on our moral values. Corrupt individuals, blinded by self-interest, tarnish the nation’s image. It is essential to crush this poisonous snake. The government must take strong measures so that the dream of a corruption-free India can come true.”
