A Bollywood Legend’s Journey of Stardom, Success & Legacy

Mumbai : Bollywood superstar Salman Khan celebrates his 60th birthday today, marking six decades of life and nearly four decades of unforgettable contributions to Indian cinema. From humble beginnings to becoming one of the most bankable and influential stars in Bollywood, Salman’s career is a testament to perseverance, popularity, and star power.

From Debut to Stardom

Salman Khan was born on 27 December 1965 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He debuted in the film industry with a supporting role in Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), but it was his performance as Prem in Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) that catapulted him to fame and established him as a leading actor. Throughout the 1990s, Salman became a household name with blockbuster films such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Saajan, Karan Arjun, No Entry, Biwi No.1 and Hum Saath Saath Hain, films that helped define mainstream Hindi cinema during the decade.

Action, Blockbusters & Career Reinvention

Although Salman faced ups and downs in the early 2000s, his comeback began with the mass-hit Wanted in 2009, re-establishing his action-hero image. He followed this with some of his biggest career blockbusters, including Dabangg (2010), introducing the iconic Chulbul Pandey; Ek Tha Tiger (2012), a major action franchise; Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), an emotional story that became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films worldwide; and Sultan (2016), a sports drama that won acclaim for Salman’s performance. Across genres — from romantic dramas to action thrillers — Salman Khan has delivered unforgettable performances and consistently commanded massive crowds at the box office.

Awards & Achievements

Over his illustrious career, Salman Khan has earned numerous honours and widespread acclaim. He has received multiple awards for his acting and film production. As a producer, his films have won national recognition, and he holds a record for starring in several of the highest-grossing Hindi films in consecutive years.

Life Beyond the Screen

Salman’s influence isn’t limited to acting. He has hosted the immensely popular reality show Bigg Boss for over a decade, captivating millions of viewers with his charisma and personality. He also founded the Being Human Foundation, a charity that supports education, healthcare, and welfare for underprivileged communities across India — reflecting his commitment to giving back to society.

Birthday Celebrations & Citywide Tribute

Today, Salman marked his 60th birthday with family and close friends at his Panvel farmhouse, cutting a cake and spending quality time with loved ones and invited guests. Adding to the festive mood, the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, one of Mumbai’s most recognisable landmarks, was spectacularly lit up in homage to the superstar, creating a dazzling skyline tribute that fans and city residents will remember.

A Legacy That Endures

As Salman Khan enters his 60th year, his impact on Bollywood and popular culture is unmistakable. Affectionately known as Bhai or Bhaijaan, he continues to be admired for his screen presence, humanitarian work, and ability to evolve with changing trends — ensuring his place as one of India’s most enduring and beloved cinema icons.
