🟡 Dadar Meeting Turns Into Call for Justice
A tribute meeting held in Dadar by the Azad Hind Front in memory of Bharat Tiwari, who lost his life in a controversial police encounter in Bihar, has now evolved into a strong platform demanding justice and accountability. The gathering, organized at Arzoo Hall under the leadership of former Mumbai Deputy Mayor and Shiv Sena leader Babubhai Bhavanji, saw emotional appeals, serious allegations, and a renewed push for immediate action against those responsible.
Bhavanji, who also serves as the National General Secretary of the Azad Hind Front, directly appealed to both the Central and Bihar governments to ensure justice for Tiwari’s family. He alleged that the young man was a victim of police misconduct and described the encounter as an act of grave injustice that cut short the life of a socially conscious youth.
🟡 Past Context: A Controversial Encounter Sparks Nationwide Concern
The death of Bharat Tiwari in a Bhojpur police encounter has been under scrutiny since the incident surfaced. While authorities claimed it was a lawful operation, the family and supporters have consistently alleged foul play, claiming that Tiwari was targeted due to his activism against corruption and his efforts to support marginalized communities.
The case has since gained traction beyond Bihar, drawing attention from social groups, activists, and organizations like the Azad Hind Front. The issue reflects a broader concern over alleged misuse of power and lack of transparency in encounter cases across the country.
🟡 Protesters’ Core Demand: Arrest of Accused Police Personnell
At the center of the growing protest is a clear and uncompromising demand:
Immediate arrest of all police officers allegedly involved in the encounter.
Tiwari’s sister, Ruby Devi, speaking on behalf of the family, stated that FIRs have already been registered against senior officers including the SDPO, SHO, and other personnel. However, the lack of arrests has intensified suspicion and anger.
She emphasized that the family will not step back until all accused officers are taken into custody and a transparent investigation is conducted.
🟡 Hunger Strike Warning Adds Urgency
In a significant escalation, the family announced that Bharat Tiwari’s mother, Asha Devi, will begin an indefinite hunger strike from July 9 if their demands are not met within the stipulated time. This announcement has added urgency to the situation and raised concerns about a potential larger public movement.
🟡 Fear and Surveillance Allegations Raise Serious Questions
The family has also made alarming claims about their safety. According to them, an unidentified vehicle without a number plate has been repeatedly seen near their residence late at night. CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspicious movement, leading the family to fear surveillance and possible intimidation.
A complaint was lodged via Dial 112, after which local police deployed security personnel. The matter has also been reported to senior officials, including the DSP. Despite this, the family continues to live in fear, demanding enhanced and permanent security protection.
🟡 Demand for Fair Investigation and Protection of Innocents
Beyond arrests, the family has raised several additional demands:
Fair and impartial investigation into the encounter
Removal of names of innocent villagers allegedly implicated in the case
Advance information before any investigative visits to ensure cooperation
Identification of the suspicious vehicle and those behind it using CCTV footage
The family alleged that nearly 14 named individuals and around 50 unidentified villagers have been falsely implicated out of vendetta, demanding a thorough review of these charges.
🟡 Voices from the Tribute Meeting
At the Mumbai tribute event, speakers reiterated that Bharat Tiwari’s fight against corruption must continue. Bhavanji warned that unchecked corruption is weakening the nation from within and called for collective responsibility to uphold justice.
Other leaders, including Maharashtra In-charge Rajsaheb Mehta and campaigner Advocate Surendra Mishra, echoed similar sentiments. The gathering concluded with floral tributes and a commitment to continue the movement.
Bhavanji also announced plans to visit Tiwari’s native village along with Chandra Kumar Bose, grandson of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, to personally meet the grieving family.
🟡 A Growing Movement for Accountability
What began as a tribute has now transformed into a broader demand for justice, transparency, and accountability. The Bharat Tiwari case is increasingly being seen as a test of the system’s ability to address allegations of misuse of power.
The family remains firm: their fight will continue until justice is delivered — not just for Bharat Tiwari, but for every citizen who seeks accountability from those in power.
