Mumbai, : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted an alleged pan-India bank recruitment examination racket operating across Delhi, Bihar, Haryana and West Bengal. Four individuals have been arrested, including an inspector from the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department, in connection with the alleged impersonation and cheating network.
🟡 Dummy Candidates Allegedly Used in Exams
According to the investigation, the accused allegedly helped candidates manipulate the banking recruitment process by arranging for other individuals to appear in their place during written examinations and subsequent interviews conducted through the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
The alleged operation raises serious concerns about the integrity of competitive recruitment examinations and the fairness of selection processes intended to provide equal opportunities to deserving candidates.
🟡 IBPS Complaint Triggers CBI Investigation
The case was registered following a complaint by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. The CBI’s Mumbai Special Task Branch subsequently carried out coordinated raids across multiple states, leading to the arrest of four alleged operatives.
The agency is investigating the suspected network to establish the roles of those arrested and determine whether other individuals were involved in the alleged fraud.
🟡 Genuine Job Aspirants at the Centre of the Concern
Banking recruitment examinations attract thousands of candidates seeking stable employment and career opportunities. Alleged impersonation at the examination and interview stages threatens the credibility of the selection process and can disadvantage candidates who prepare and compete honestly.
The case highlights the need for robust identity verification, examination monitoring and transparent recruitment procedures to prevent organised cheating.
The investigation remains ongoing. The allegations against the arrested individuals will be subject to the legal process, and their guilt must be established by a competent court.
