Maharashtra Braces for Weather Change: IMD Issues Yellow Alert″

Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Maharashtra, forecasting a significant change in weather that is expected to bring relief to the state from the scorching heat. The IMD predicts a drop in temperature and rainfall in several areas of Maharashtra, providing a much-needed respite from the sweltering temperatures that have been plaguing the state for over two weeks.

IMD Forecast

The IMD forecast indicates that several districts in Maharashtra will experience rainfall and thunderstorms, with the Vidarbha region being one of the most affected areas. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning are expected in Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Amravati, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, and Washim districts on May 4 and 5. Pune city is also expected to experience light rainfall on May 4 and 5, accompanied by cloudy weather, with the temperature likely to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius. Additionally, north-central Maharashtra and parts of Konkan are also expected to experience rainfall during this period, bringing relief to the region.

Pune’s Scorching Heat

Pune city has been particularly affected by the heatwave, recording daytime temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius for nearly 14 days, the highest since 2013. The city’s residents have been struggling to cope with the extreme heat, and the expected rainfall and drop in temperature will undoubtedly provide much-needed relief.

Relief from Heat

After experiencing above-normal temperatures for an extended period, the state is likely to see a significant drop in temperature, providing relief to residents. The expected drop in temperature will undoubtedly provide relief to residents who have been struggling with the heat.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecast. The IMD has warned of possible flooding situations in areas experiencing heavy rainfall, and it is essential to be prepared and take all necessary measures to ensure safety. By staying informed and taking precautions, residents can minimize the impact of the impending weather change and stay safe.
