Pune Bus Station: A young girl raped in bus

Pune : At 5.30 am in the morning at Swar Gate Bus Station in Pune city. A case has been registered at Swar Gate Police Station in this regard and the police have identified the accused through CCTV and special teams have been sent to arrest him. The accused is a habitual offender and has previous cases registered against him in the Shirur Shikrapur area of Pune district.
Police Launch Manhunt
The detailed facts are that the young girl, who works in Pune, was waiting for a bus at the bus station to go to her village Phaltan in Satara district when the accused got acquainted with her and gained her trust within a short time. The accused inquired about where she was going from there and asked her to go there as the bus going to her village stops at a different platform. However, the girl said that the bus from her village stops at this same platform but he discouraged her from going there.
Trust Betrayed
Trusting his words, Girl went to the bus parked on the other side. It was dark inside, so when she asked him why the lights were off in the bus, he said that the bus was at the bus station for the night. The lights would be off as the other passengers were sleeping, but he told her to go inside without any hesitation. When she used her mobile flashlight to peek inside, he closed the door behind her and raped her.
CCTV Futej Analysed
After these incidents, the accused fled from there and the girl also returned to her original seat but since the extreme incident had worsened her mental state, she called her friends and informed them about it. The friends advised her to go to the local police station and file a complaint. Considering the seriousness of the incident, the police immediately registered a case and after checking the CCTV footage of the bus station and the area, they identified the accused and have now sent several teams to various places to arrest the accused.
Womens & girls Safety Concerns Raised
In an educated city like Pune, the incident of the rape in the bus station has created a stir in the social and political spheres. The government is asking for the arrest of the accused as soon as possible and strict governance, while the opposition has started heating up the political atmosphere by accusing the government that girls and womens are not safe in Maharashtra. State Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar has also appealed to the police to arrest the accused as soon as possible and hang him.
