🟡 Major Damage Reported on Lakh Pale Flyover

The cement concrete road on the Lakh Pale flyover, located in Mangaon taluka on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway, has caved in at multiple places, raising serious safety concerns. Angry commuters traveling on this highway are questioning whether the National Highways Department will take action only after a fatal accident occurs.

🟡 Structural Risks Increasing Near Mahad–Mangaon Border

On National Highway No. 66, near the Mahad-Mangaon border, several sections of the concrete road on the Lakh Pale flyover have sunk, posing a potential long-term threat to the structural safety of the bridge. Large portions of the cement concrete surface have tilted to one side, while visible cracks have developed across the roadway. Due to high-speed traffic and heavy rainfall, water is seeping into these damaged sections, further weakening the road and increasing the risk of further collapse.

🟡 Heavy Rains Worsen Situation in Konkan Region

With the monsoon gaining strength in the Konkan region, heavy rains have led to water accumulation in the sunken portions of the flyover. During nighttime, drivers are unable to judge the depth of these water-filled patches, significantly increasing the chances of serious accidents. Commuters are raising concerns, asking whether authorities will only act after a tragic loss of life.

🟡 Festival Season Raises Traffic and Safety Concerns

Additionally, with the Ganesh festival season approaching in the next three months, traffic on this highway is expected to increase significantly. This raises an important question—how will the National Highways Department carry out repairs on this already damaged flyover during the peak monsoon season?

🟡 Multiple Flyovers on NH-66 Facing Similar Issues

Similar to the condition of the Lakh Pale flyover, several other flyovers along the same highway—from Talegaon, Mugawali, Veer, and Wahur to Poladpur—are also experiencing large-scale deterioration of their cement concrete roads. These damaged stretches pose a serious risk of accidents, especially during rainy nights, and cannot be ignored any longer.
