Mumbai: UPI payments are currently experiencing significant disruptions due to a widespread outage affecting popular apps such as Paytm, PhonePe, and Google Pay. Many users are facing issues with transactions, including failed payments and problems with fund transfers, which is causing inconvenience and delays.
Outage Peaks with Over 222 Reports in Just One Hour
According to Downdetector, the outage peaked at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 12, with over 222 reports flooding in. The data reveals that a significant 76% of users faced payment problems, while 23% couldn’t transfer funds, highlighting the severity of the issue.
UPI System’s Reliability Under Scrutiny
This is the sixth major UPI outage in the past year, with two disruptions occurring in March and April alone. The frequency and impact of these outages raise concerns about the reliability and stability of the UPI system.
NPCI Maintains Silence Amidst Widespread Disruption
NPCI has yet to issue an official statement addressing the reason behind the latest disruption, leaving users and stakeholders seeking clarity on the cause and potential resolution. The outage has significant implications for users, businesses, and the overall digital payment ecosystem in India.
