Mumbai: Banners installed across Mumbai by former Deputy Mayor and prominent Hindu leader Babu Bhai Bhavanji have become a topic of widespread discussions. The banners emphasize Hindu unity through slogans such as “Stay Hindu, Stay United, Stay Safe.”
Babubhai Bhavanji’s Campaign
Babubhai Bhavanji is currently spearheading a nationwide “Samaj Jodo Abhiyan” (Unite Society Campaign) aimed at bringing together various Hindu communities on a single platform to strengthen social harmony and national unity. He firmly believes that “only a united Hindu society can ensure a strong and prosperous India.”
Public Attention and Conversation
While Bhavanji’s banners on national festivals and social occasions have often drawn public attention in the past, this year’s focus on Hindu and communal harmony during Ambedkar Jayanti has generated particular interest and conversation.
BJP’s Campaign
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also announced a nationwide campaign titled “Bhimrao Ambedkar Samman Abhiyan” to be conducted from April 14 to April 25, 2025. The campaign aims to reach the grassroots with Dr. Ambedkar’s message and emphasize that his greatest recognition and respect have come under the BJP-led government.
Shift in Indian Socio-Political Discourse
This moment highlights a significant shift in Indian socio-political discourse, where Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy is no longer confined to Dalit politics but is being embraced and interpreted by a broad spectrum of ideologies and organizations as a symbol of social justice, constitutional values, and inclusive nationalism.
