MUMBAI: The Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against organizers of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF), Abhishek Mishra and Anil Mishra, as well as their accomplices. The organizers allegedly filed a letter for police permission under the name of a defunct firm and defrauded government officials by using the prime minister’s name for illegal purpose.
The charges include pervasive fraudulent behavior, including falsely associating the festival with the Indian government and scamming industry stakeholders for monetary benefits. An FIR has been filed with the Bandra police based on information submitted by the BJP’s Film Workers Wing, which has exposed the group’s financial fraud practices.
Maharashtra State President Samir Dixit said, “The film industry has been plagued by such fraudulent activities for years. This FIR is an important step in addressing the manipulation and exploitation that many have to face.T he BJP Film Wing was originally formed to curb illegal and immoral things going on in Bollywood and if any section of Bollywood brings such complaints to us, we will insist on taking strict action against those frauds. We will also soon launch an open campaign on some illegal issues.
Vivek Jagtap, Maharashtra General Secretary of BJP Film Wing, said that the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, which claims to honor excellence in Indian cinema, is now facing an uncertain future. The BJP Film Workers wing is committed to eradicating fraudulent practices in Bollywood, and we will soon release information about the financial misappropriation of many more people by this group, in which some big actors and actresses and film directors are likely to be cheated.
Maharashtra Secretary Nikita Ghag said, “We will not allow anyone to exploit our artists in the name of prestigious awards.” The allegations are expected to reverberate across the film industry, with many demanding a comprehensive review of all award festivals to ensure fairness and transparency. As the legal action against the group progresses, several things are becoming clear, with the BJP presenting several crucial evidence.
