Buldhana: In a recent press conference, Sanjay Gaikwad, a Shiv Sena MLA from Buldhana, Maharashtra, criticized the state police, labeling them as inefficient and corrupt. Gaikwad expressed frustration over the lack of progress in a case involving threats to his son’s life and an attack on his vehicle, stating that despite filing a complaint, no leads have been found.
Allegations of Corruption
The MLA alleged that the police department is prone to corruption, particularly when it comes to enforcing laws and bans on certain goods. “If the police work honestly, all illegal activities will come to an end,” Gaikwad said. He cited instances where police personnel were found to be involved in criminal activities, even going so far as to tip off thieves before raids and possessing stolen goods in their own homes.
Call for Honest Service
Gaikwad emphasized that if the police were to work with integrity for just one year, the situation would improve significantly. “If the police don’t indulge in corrupt practices and work honestly for a year, everything will be fine,” he said, highlighting the need for genuine service from law enforcement agencies.
Devendra Fadnavis Responds
However, Devendra Fadnavis responded to Gaikwad’s comments, stating that it’s not right to speak about the police in such a manner. “I will ask Eknath Shinde to caution him. If Sanjay Gaikwad continues to make such statements, action will be taken against him,” Fadnavis said, indicating potential repercussions for the MLA’s remarks.
