Enhanced Security Measures
Mumbai: Mumbai Police have announced a month-long ban on drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, and hot air balloons, effective from April 4 to May 5. This move aims to enhance security and prevent potential threats from terrorists or anti-social elements, particularly against VVIPs.
Key Provisions of the Ban
The ban, imposed under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, prohibits flying activities involving these devices within the Mumbai Police jurisdiction. However, exceptions will be made for police aerial surveillance or with prior approval from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations).
Ensuring Public Safety
The Mumbai Police urge the public to comply with these regulations to maintain safety and order in the city. Violators will face penalties under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, addressing disobedience to lawful orders issued by public servants.
Precautionary Measure
The ban is a precautionary measure to safeguard the city, especially considering the potential risks associated with these flying devices. By restricting their use, the Mumbai Police can better monitor and control the skies, reducing the risk of security breaches and maintaining public safety.
