Mumbai :The controversy surrounding Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik unit has entered a more complex phase, with investigators now examining a possible international link in connection with key accused Nida Khan. As the Special Investigation Team (SIT) intensifies its probe, new claims and emerging leads have widened the scope of what was initially seen as a workplace harassment case. At present, Nida Khan remains untraceable, and law enforcement agencies are making sustained efforts to locate her, with officials believing her interrogation is crucial to understanding the full extent of allegations that include sexual harassment, mental coercion, and religious pressure.

The case first surfaced after employees at a TCS BPO facility in Nashik filed multiple complaints alleging inappropriate conduct within the workplace, which later expanded to include claims of systematic grooming and psychological influence. According to investigators, Nida Khan is suspected of encouraging a colleague to adopt specific religious practices, sharing religious material, and even installing applications on the victim’s phone, leading to alleged pressure for religious conversion. Some complainants have also claimed that refusal was met with implicit threats or social pressure, although these allegations remain under investigation and have not been legally proven in court.

One of the most significant recent developments is the emerging international angle, with SIT sources indicating that digital evidence and communication trails are being analysed for any foreign connections, particularly with Malaysia. Investigators are examining whether there were contacts or coordination with individuals based abroad, including possible communication links, financial trails, or travel history connected to Malaysia. However, officials have clearly stated that no confirmed international conspiracy has been established so far, and the Malaysia link remains only a line of investigation rather than a proven fact, even as it adds a sensitive dimension to the case.

In another development, a male employee recently alleged that he was given food after which he felt uneasy and was later filmed wearing religious headgear without consent, adding a fresh coercion and humiliation angle to the probe. Authorities are now working to determine whether such incidents were isolated acts or part of a broader behavioural pattern within the workplace, with digital forensics including chats, emails, and call data being closely analysed for connections among the accused individuals.

In response to the controversy, TCS has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on workplace misconduct and confirmed that it has suspended the accused employees, including Nida Khan, while fully cooperating with the investigation. The company has also clarified that she held a junior-level position and was not part of HR or senior management, and has stated that no formal complaints were filed through its internal POSH mechanism, raising questions about internal reporting systems and whether employees felt comfortable using them. This contrast between employee allegations and internal records continues to remain a key point of debate.

The case has also reached the Supreme Court of India, highlighting its growing national significance, while Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has termed the matter serious and assured strict action if wrongdoing is established. At the same time, the issue has triggered strong reactions across political and social groups, with some alleging a structured pattern of targeting and coercion, while others caution that there is no conclusive evidence yet of an organised or international conspiracy and warn against drawing premature conclusions.

As of now, multiple FIRs have been registered, arrests have been made, and the SIT investigation remains actively ongoing, with Nida Khan identified as a key accused but still untraceable. Crucially, several aspects—including the alleged conversion pressure, organised network claims, and possible Malaysia connection—are still under investigation and have not been conclusively proven. The case therefore remains a developing story where allegations are serious and wide-ranging, but final conclusions will depend on verified evidence and the outcome of the legal process.
