Mumbai: An anti-drug protest was organized near Dadar Station recently under the leadership of former Mumbai Deputy Mayor Babubhai Bhavanji. During the demonstration, an appeal was made to the government to ban the sale of all types of intoxicating substances and take the strictest possible action against those involved in the drug trade.
It may be noted that recently, a person died during a live music event at the NSCI Worli Dome in Mumbai. The deceased was identified as 28-year-old Vrushabh Mahendra Gangurde, a resident of Mahim, who had attended the event with his friends. According to reports, Vrushabh had consumed a large amount of alcohol with his friends. During the event, both Vrushabh and one of his female friends fell ill in the crowd.
They were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. Police stated that Vrushabh passed away, while the condition of his female friend remains stable. The incident reportedly occurred around 9:00 p.m., when his health suddenly deteriorated. According to sources, he collapsed while dancing and was rushed to the hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the young man had consumed a significant quantity of alcohol and was heavily intoxicated. A young woman accompanying him had also allegedly consumed alcohol. Both were taken to the hospital immediately. While the young man died during treatment, the woman’s condition was reported to be stable.
Addressing the protest, Babubhai Bhavanji said that drug addiction is destroying the younger generation. He stated that intoxicating substances are being sold near many colleges and that people openly consume drugs and other intoxicants at such music events.
He further said that the government should not grant permission for such events. Referring to an upcoming music festival near the Racecourse, he urged the government to stop it from taking place.
Bhavanji also announced that a massive anti-drug rally will soon be organized in Mumbai, in which Mr. Chandra Kumar Bose, grandson of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, will also participate.
He appealed to all citizens of Mumbai to join the anti-drug movement and help protect the younger generation from being ruined by addiction.
