🟡 Mumbai Heavy Rainfall

Mumbai city is currently witnessing extremely heavy rainfall, with the monsoon turning intense over the past few days. According to weather officials, the city has already received nearly 80% of its average July rainfall within just four days, indicating an unusually strong start to the monsoon season.

🟡 Red Alert Issued, High Tide Warning

A ‘Red Alert’ has been issued for Mumbai, warning of continued heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming hours. In the last 24 hours alone, several parts of the city recorded 250–300 mm rainfall, raising concerns of flooding. Authorities have also warned of a high tide of over 4 meters, which could worsen waterlogging in low-lying areas.

🟡 City Life Disrupted, Roads and Homes Flooded

Relentless rain has led to severe waterlogging across Mumbai, especially in areas like Dadar, Chembur, and Bandra-Kurla Complex. Roads have been submerged, homes flooded, and daily life significantly disrupted. Many commuters were seen wading through knee-deep water, while traffic congestion has worsened across the city.

🟡 Transport Services Affected

Public transport has been impacted due to heavy rainfall. Several bus routes have been diverted due to waterlogged roads. While suburban train services are mostly operational, delays and slow movement have been reported in multiple sections. Flights and road traffic have also faced disruptions due to poor visibility and flooding.

🟡 Schools Closed, Safety Advisory Issued

In view of the worsening situation, authorities have announced the closure of schools and colleges to ensure student safety. Civic officials have advised citizens to stay indoors unless necessary and avoid flood-prone areas.

🟡 Infrastructure Concerns and Ongoing Risks

Heavy rains have exposed poor road conditions, with potholes and damaged roads creating further problems for commuters. Tree falls and minor incidents have also been reported, highlighting the challenges of urban infrastructure during intense monsoon spells.

🟡 Situation Still Critical

Weather experts warn that the rainfall activity is likely to continue, and conditions may worsen over the next few days. Emergency services remain on alert, and residents are urged to remain cautious as Mumbai continues to battle one of the season’s heaviest downpours.
