🟡 Grand Celebration of Passenger Facilitation Week
Passenger Facilitation Week 2026 is being celebrated with great enthusiasm at Juhu Airport by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) from June 5 to June 20, 2026. The initiative not only honors passengers, stakeholders, and airport staff but also highlights the remarkable journey of the airport over the past 12 years in achieving modern, safe, and eco-friendly development.
🟡 Cultural, Social & Eco-Friendly Activities
During this two-week celebration, a variety of cultural, environmental, and social programs have been organized within the airport premises. A tree plantation drive has been carried out, while airport staff showcased Maharashtra’s rich culture through traditional dance performances. Free medical check-up camps were arranged for passengers, stakeholders, and commercial taxi and cab drivers. Women employees and officers were honored with bouquets, along with recognition of the dedicated work of sanitation staff. Attractive selfie points have also been set up at the main entrance and near the terminal building for passengers.
🟡 Special Events Planned for June 15
On Monday, June 15, special programs will be organized to enhance passenger engagement. Travelers will be welcomed with traditional tilak, followed by a collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ near the national flag. Live plant saplings will be distributed to passengers, along with refreshing shikanji to provide relief from the summer heat. The second phase of honoring sanitation workers will also take place during the event.
🟡 12 Years of Infrastructure & Security Growth
Over the past 12 years, Juhu Airport has made significant advancements in infrastructure, safety, and green energy. Since 2023, a state-of-the-art mini terminal building has been operational, along with a modern administrative office complex. Security has been strengthened considerably—from just 27 personnel in 2017 to 173 Maharashtra Security Force personnel deployed today. Entry systems have also been upgraded in accordance with BCAS guidelines to ensure enhanced safety.
🟡 Modern Technology & Rising Passenger Traffic
The Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower has been upgraded with a new automated system, and runway recarpeting work is currently in progress. Passenger traffic has shown steady growth, increasing from 86,264 in 2021 to 108,293 in 2025—marking an approximate 25.5% rise.
🟡 Tourism Boost & Strategic Importance
Juhu Airport now offers joy rides via helicopters and small aircraft for Mumbai sightseeing, making it a popular attraction. It has also emerged as an important hub for connectivity to religious destinations like Shirdi and Kolhapur. Additionally, the airport plays a crucial role in transporting manpower and materials for ONGC’s Bombay High offshore oil fields.
🟡 Green Energy & Emergency Services Strengthened
Promoting sustainability, a 150 kW solar power project has been commissioned at the airport, along with the installation of 150 energy-efficient LED lights across the premises. Emergency response capabilities have also improved with the induction of a modern crash fire tender vehicle with a capacity of 6,000 liters, ensuring more effective firefighting and rescue operations.
🟡 A Symbol of Modern, Safe & Sustainable Aviation
Overall, Passenger Facilitation Week 2026 is not just a celebration of passengers but a reflection of Juhu Airport’s transformation over the last 12 years. The initiative stands as a symbol of modernization, enhanced safety, environmental sustainability, and excellence in service quality.
