The state has bagged the national award for quality sugar production, with Bhimashankar Cooperative Sugar Factory in Pune district receiving the prestigious Vansantdada Patil Award.

A total of 103 cooperative sugar factories across the country participated in the quality award competition for the financial year 2023-24. The evaluation was conducted by the New Delhi-based National Cooperative Sugar Factory Federation, which has 260 cooperative sugar factories and nine state sugar federation members.
Maharashtra’s Consistent Excellence in Sugar Production
Maharashtra’s sugar production has been consistently high, with the state producing 110 lakh tonnes of sugar in the 2023-24 season. The state’s sugar factories have also shown significant improvement in terms of productivity and sugar recovery.
